Khiva, Uzbekistan

Today was a big drive day.  We left camp at 6 am for Khiva, Uzbekistan, another UNESCO World Heritage site.

Same scenery!


Over and over again-


Sand dunes-


This woman is cleaning the gas station parking lot-


We crossed into Uzbekistan and immediately noticed a difference-there were people walking around, smiling and talking.  Also, the land, almost immediately, became arable.  This is rice, if you can believe that!


And cotton!  Pickers included!


Then, all of a sudden, more desert, however, the left side of this photo is arable!


Finally we arrived in Khiva, just in time for a few beer and a few great shashlyk and a tomatoe/cucumber salad!
