Canmore, Alberta

I spent the last few days in Canmore, Alberta, enjoying family, nature and food.

Here's a wild boar burger (it tasted just like beef) -

and a veggie pizza - green beans on a pizza??  It was great!

A construction company hit a gas line and a house blew up about a block and a half from where I was staying.  Unbelievably,  no one was injured!

Of course no holiday is complete without a golf game or two.  The Canmore Golf and Curling Club plays 5172 yards from the red tees.  The course is very flat with fabulous mountain views.  The Three Sisters - Faith, Charity and Hope are 2936 meters high-

Hanna, Alberta - home of Nickelback!

The Canadian Badlands around Drumheller, Alberta are huge areas of land sculpting due to erosion where little will grow.  There are many hoodoo rock formations, rich fossil deposits and tons of dinosaur bones showcased at the Royal Tyrrell Museum.

We have a bit of  a fire problem as currently there are 115 active fires burning in Saskatchewan's north and 37 are larger than 100 hectares.  So far this year, there have been 510 wild fires compared to 186 in 2014.  This was the scene driving from Saskatoon to North Battleford June 29.

Looking forward to lots of golf this summer!
