Juayua, El Salvador, el once de Febrero, 2017

I was up at 4:20 - unable to sleep - maybe from the smell, maybe it was the satin sheets - very nice!

Juayau is only 11 km away-

so I was there in no time and luckily my room was ready.  It's gorgeous!

Hotel Anahuac only has 6 rooms but each one has been decorated by a local artist.  My artist was Gerardo Gomez-

Every Saturday and Sunday is the Feria Gastronomica when local restaurants set up booths around Parque Central.  People come from all over the country for delicious food-

Dishes run from $3.50 - $6.00 US and there's a great variety: rez, cerdo, camarones, pescado-

Cooking is done on the street-

And there is live entertainment-

At the north end of Parque Central, which is super clean by the way Santa Ana, is the church-

Inside is Cristo Negro, carved by Quirio Catano during the 16th century-

There are a lot of souvenir shops set up around the square too-

Supper was the best meal I've had since I left home:  frijoles, platanos, corn on the cob, tomato/cucumber/cilantro salad, chorizo, fried onions, tortillas, potatoes and skewers of beef, peppers, onion and pineapple-

Dessert was a piña colada in my very own piña-

And, the tool the woman used to hollow out the piña-

I want one of them!  How much easier it would be to serve piña!

I'm looking forward to seeing a waterfall tomorrow and visiting 3 other villages along the Ruta de las Flores!
