I didn’t seem to sleep but I haven’t felt tired so I guess I must have. There were about 40 of us in the room and I didn’t hear a single snorer! I hate nights like that when it feels like you’ve been awake all night. Breakfast was great - cheese, ham, coffee, juice and apples - the best so far.
I found the real sign in Roncesvalles; it’s not in Saint Jean Pied de Port. This walk is even longer than I thought -
Roncesvalles to Zubiri is 3*s of difficulty. The last 2 days were 5*s. Tomorrow is only 1*. Yeah!
I was on the road by 7:30 and the first few km were downhill through a forest and very fast. I loved it-
Along the way-
N.O. Rambo. What was I thinking?
Once in Zubiri there’s a gorgeous bridge called La Puente de la Rabia - the Rabies Bridge. There are 2 legends about it. One is that the bridge could cure rabies if the animal crossed it three times. Another is it could cure anger in people if they made 3 rotations in the water around the central pillar. I don’t have an animal with rabies nor am I angry so I guess I’ll never know if they are true!
Along the route I ran into Marjanne and we are checked into a great albergue -
I even have a warm fuzzy blanket and the wifi is superb!
Looking forward?? to tomorrow!
