Manila to Dumaguete to Siquijor, Philippines
It did not seem like I slept but I was not tired when I woke up at three. I also was not anxious about my flight which was awesome. After drinking a couple pots of coffee and packing, I walked to the airport. This morning, my neighbourhood-
While walking to the airport and checking that I was going in the right direction, a woman invited me to walk with her. She was out for her daily exercise. Once at the airport, I thought I better have something to eat so I didn’t have another “incident” and finally broke down and ate at Jollibee-
It is The Philippine’s fast food place that you find practically on every street corner. I had a burger with cooked pickles that was absolutely delicious.
I will fly from Manila (top left red dot) to Dumaguete and ferry to Siquijor (green arrow)-
I got through security in a flash and was sitting at the gate with plenty of time to spare. The flight was uneventful and once in Dumaguete, I joined 2 French tourists to share a tricycle to the port. Tomas owns an art gallery and Chantelle is a private flight attendant.
I had already booked my ferry ticket online and according to the website the earliest ferry I could take was at 2 PM. Well of course it wasn’t - there was one at 11 which was the one the French took. Meanwhile I sat in a small restaurant drinking 6.9% beer ( I only had one) until my 2 o’clock departure. There are problems being a seasoned traveler. I have arrived at ticket booths and been told that what I wanted was sold out so to avoid issues, I book ahead. I need to remember that The Philippines is not a first world country and that not all companies will be online. All the young newby travellers, who might not know what they are doing, will be on the 11 o’clock ferry while I sit and wait for my 2 o’clock. Hmmmm….. Who is the dummy?
The ferry took 1.5 hours-
The hotel would have picked me up for 350 x 2 whereas with my own wheels which cost 850 I now have my own transportation!
My room is wonderful!-
Unfortunately I’m just here for one night. I can’t remember if my other nights weren’t available or if I just wanted to check it out. Anyway it is very unfortunate that I cannot spend all three nights here. My hut is in the garden-
I may stay in my room until check out tomorrow, not sure. I feel like a princess!
