My Hospital Time is Coming to an End!

Today was a pretty chill day.  Watermelon was back with a surprise from her garden –

My hematocrit is good, my blood pressure and temperature are good and I no longer get IV pain medicine. I don’t really have any pain in my arm, just a bit of stiffness.

Dr. Boy came and removed the dressing on my knee but it was still a little weepy so he put on another.  He cleaned my stitches through the dressing where there is absolutely no weeping and cleaned the drain area which was also dry.

Physio came and we did the passive stretching exercises which I am to continue until I get home.  I will be able to lift light loads in a couple of weeks but I am not going to push anything.  Physio also put a big cold pack on my shoulder for 20 minutes and I had one on last night – sort of  a life jacket vest but it was very cold and I think that has had a lot to do with taking the pain away in my arm.

The meals were OK – Tom Yum Goong, seared salmon and cashew chicken.

I put my backpack on just over my left shoulder and did up the waist and chest belts.   I think I will need help doing those clips up but there will always be someone where ever I stay who will be able to do that for me.  I have booked two nights in Chiang Rai but will probably increase it to four.  I will go to the Golden Triangle for a day trip on a bus, come back here and then take a van to Chiang Khong when I move into Laos.

I will be discharged tomorrow and then plan to walk across the street to the Black temple. I will come back to the hospital, pick up my backpack and go to the Blue temple and then head to my hotel.

I think it is worth a try to continue my trip and if it is just too difficult then I will probably find someplace to chill until it warms up at home. I am lucky that my backpack is very light because I don’t think I could manage a bigger one.

My stay in the hospital has been a positive experience. I was treated like a queen and had the very best care.  Unfortunately Watermelon works the evening shift tomorrow night so I will not see her again –

I’m looking forward to what comes next!
