This morning I went golfing at Santiburi Samui Country Club. It was fantastic! It's on a mountain and in a coconut plantation. There are numerous creeks and rock outcroppings throughout. From the red tees, it's only 4981 yards long. No pars - I missed a short put for a par but lots of bogeys!
This is Aey - ( pronounced eh ), in her caddie outfit. She's been caddying for 8 years, 4 to 5 rounds a week.
Here are some of the many great holes-
This is the 18th-
The view from the clubhouse. Today was an exceptionally clear day. Koh Tao is on the far left-
On the way home I stopped at a market but certainly didn't buy this!
Big Buddha at Wat Phra Yai measures 12 meters tall and was built in 1972. He's sitting in the Mara position. His left hand's palm is on his lap and his right hand is facing down with his fingers hanging over his knee, barely touching the ground. This position shows Buddha when he stopped the temptations and difficulties sent his way by Mara, the devil figure. He did this by remaining calm. This particular pose shows enlightenment, purity and steadfastness.
Wat Phra Yai is one of the top tourist traps, I mean attractions, in Samui.
This carpenter bee is busy eating one of our wooden deck chairs-
This is the hole it made in 2 days!
The sawdust it has chewed up and spit out!
This is the gorgeous infinity pool at our resort - Choeng Mon Beach Resort. We've gotten good use out of it during these hot, relaxing days!
Tomorrow we're heading back to the mainland, on our way to the Malaysian border.
