Happy Birthday Nico!! January 16, 2017

Today is Nico's 25th birthday!  Wow!  I can vividly remember the day he was born.  I wasn't feeling well in the morning, so Alice Weir, Jane's babysitter, came to pick her up.  My water broke while I was sitting on the toilet - how lucky is that!  I called Lionel.  He came home and was busy doing something with the hood up on the car in the driveway while I was having a large contraction!  Finally he came in and we left immediately for the hospital.  I had big contractions along the way and Nico was born in 45 minutes - from start to finish!  He was a little hellion - always doing something and he had a funny sense of humour.  He loved to laugh and have fun.  I often wonder what he would be doing today, where he would be living etc.  I know he's happy and around, I just can't see him or hug him!

His 19th birthday-

As I think about him, I am reminded of so many things such as when he worked at Taco Time, his dream job-

Graduation with Kendall Trach-

Fishing in the river.  He loved our river boat-

Bath time with Jane, and often me-

Camping trips every summer.  Nico's jobs were to chop wood, dry dishes and help prepare supper-

Monkey see, monkey do-

Nico loved the Riders-

And loved playing hockey-

He was very proud to be awarded the Canadian Cancer Medal for Courage-

He had such a great group of friends.  One year at Relay for Life, Team Terry participated-

He loved to cook and always reminded me of the food safe rules I was breaking-

Sushi was his favorite food.  He enjoyed it in Banff during our last camping trip-

We couldn't go past an oyster shucking restaurant in New Orleans without stopping in for a dozen-

Camping at Long Beach on Vancouver Island-

The morning we decided it was time to move to BUH-

Where he was well looked after in palliative care-

I love you Nico and think about you every day!  Happy, happy birthday!

Until we meet again..... Xoxoxoxoxo
