Noisy Beach Camp to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, December 21, 2022
What a night! There were noisy cars driving by and loud music off and on until about 4 this morning. I don’t know how or why they carry on like that when no alcohol or drugs are involved. Needless to say I had a horrible sleep!
This morning’s sunrise-
A man named Mohammed came along with some Arabic coffee - it looks like tea and tastes bad but in this region they use ginger as the main spice. It was the best so far, I’d give it a 4 out of 10. He also brought dates which I love!
Washing breakfast dishes-
It took about 4 hours to get to the hotel. Along the way we passed by all the hay trucks again-
and a few half ton loads-
The most exciting part of the day was that when I checked the India Evisa site, I CAN NOW GET AN EVISA FOR INDIA!!! I’M GOING TO INDIA FOR YOGA!!!! I filled out the very lengthy visa application form and then the site wouldn’t accept my credit card until the third try. Now I wait and once I have it, hopefully in 4 business days, I can start putting that phase of my trip together.
Cynthia and I went exploring for something to eat and found a Koshari restaurant called Abo Tareq. Three men literally begged us to come inside and said we could eat for free. It was a special day because the owner, Abo Tareq was there-
He is 93, from Cairo and he started his restaurant chain in 1963. Koshari is Egypt’s national dish, a goulash of lentils, macaroni and rice topped with a zesty tomato sauce, garlic vinegar and garnished with chickpeas and crispy fried onions-
It’s a comfort food and very good. We were the stars of the restaurant as they took pictures and videos of us. So weird but yes we did get to eat for free.

Other weirdness: different doors to enter the same restaurant-
and another roundabout center piece-
Tomorrow I plan to walk part of the Corniche which has numerous sculptures along it and then head to the Old Town late afternoon.
P.S. Two overlanders tired of talking to each other-
